22nd December 1995- The day I sat at home thinking how much fun my brother might be having at Trivandrum with my cousins made me jealous and angry. Seems like I was too young to stay with them. Sheesh!! Does one need to have 2 digits strapped to their age certificate to have fun? Well, its not like I wanted to vote.
Anyways, I picked up the half broken remote(thanks to my anger)from the floor and switched on the Tv to take my mind of my native place. Never in my wildest dreams did I realise that switching on the Tv can lure me to the biggest addiction that I could be living with for the rest of my life.
There he stood, clad in a yellow shirt with his 'mundu' tied in a perfect knot, staring at a police officer with his fingers running through his moustache. I just could'nt help but notice that graceful young man standing high in my mini screen. All throughout the movie, I sat there breathlessly wondering; ''Is this was one of those Walt Disney movies where they bring the magic of wonderland on screen?''
That night, I forgot how angry I was; all I could think of was that person- the one and only "Mohanlal"- our dear own Lalettan. The way he carried himself in 'Devasuram' truly portray the artistic and aesthetic skill of this marvelous actor. Then came a flow of movies of lalettan which attracted me like a magnet. I dont believe in judging people, but being a movie freak and having seen movies of all the so called finest actors, I still have not seen any actor who's acting flows like a leaf swaying in the cool and calm breeze; except that of lalettan's. Be it solomon in "Namukku Paarkan Mundhiri Thopukal" or Govardan in "Kalapani" or Kunjikuttan in "Vaanaprastham", there is no denying the fact that this marvelous and dedicated actor is truly a gift from the Almighty to God's own country.
